GoDaddy Node.js Hosting vs DropTheHassle for AI-built apps

GoDaddy Node.js Hosting (launched 29 September 2026) runs your app as a Node.js server, with a managed MySQL database, and deploys from a zip, GitHub, its API or the gddy CLI. Previews are free (up to two apps), but publishing needs a GoDaddy Web Hosting plan: Economy is $5.99 a month for a 3-year term and includes 1 published app. DropTheHassle only hosts built files (HTML, CSS, JavaScript; single-page apps work), gives a free HTTPS link with no account, and sells a .com for EUR 19 a year including VAT in the EU, or USD 19 elsewhere, the same every year. If your app needs a server, GoDaddy is the better pick. If it's a folder with an index.html, DropTheHassle is free and your AI can't spend your money.

Your AI can publish. It can never spend your money.

Built it with ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini, Cursor, Replit, v0, Windsurf or by hand? Same steps.

The difference in one line

GoDaddy runs your app. DropTheHassle publishes your files. Everything else follows from that.

Question DropTheHassle GoDaddy Node.js Hosting
What it runs Built files only: HTML, CSS, JavaScript, images. Unknown paths serve index.html, so single-page apps work. No server code. Node.js 22 apps as persistent processes: Express, Fastify, Nest, plus Next.js, Nuxt, Remix, React and Vue (product page, press release).
Database None. Your backend stays where it is (Supabase, Lovable Cloud, your own API). Managed MySQL included with published apps (press release).
Free tier A free name.dropthehassle.app link with HTTPS, live to the public. No account or card. Claim it with your email within 7 days to keep it. Up to two private preview apps, no Web Hosting plan or card needed. Publishing needs a paid plan (press release).
What publishing costs Free on the dropthehassle.app link. Connecting a domain you own is free. A GoDaddy Web Hosting plan with a free app slot: Economy 1 published app, Deluxe 10, Ultimate 25 (product page FAQ). Economy $5.99, Deluxe $7.99, Ultimate $12.99 "for first 3-yr term" (web hosting).
After the first term No hosting fee to renew. Economy: "You pay $215.64 today. Hosting auto-renews Oct. 2029 at $551.63" (offer page).
.com, first year EUR 19 including VAT in the EU, or USD 19 elsewhere. $0.01 for the first year, "3-year purchase required" (.com page). Hosting plans list a "Free domain*" with conditions (web hosting).
.com, renewal EUR 19 a year including VAT in the EU, or USD 19 elsewhere, the same every year. "Additional year(s) $22.99" (.com page).
DNS you edit yourself None if you buy the name here. One A record if it stays at your registrar. None if the domain is at GoDaddy. Otherwise GoDaddy tells you which records to add (product page).
How you deploy Drop a folder or .zip on the site, npx -y dropthehassle deploy, or the MCP server at https://dropthehassle.com/mcp. A first deploy needs no account or token. Zip upload or GitHub in the dashboard, the REST API with a Personal Access Token, or the gddy CLI after gddy auth login (help article, CLI reference).
What the agent skill does Not needed: the CLI and MCP deploy directly. The godaddy-nodejs-hosting skill prepares and validates your project for the platform (build and start scripts, port, a small server for static builds). You then deploy with GitHub or a zip in the hosting UI (skill repo). Agents can also run the gddy CLI with your credentials (product page).
Can the agent spend money? No. Your AI can publish. It can never spend your money: buying a domain is always your own click. The gddy CLI includes gddy domain purchase, which "charges the account" when run with --confirm (CLI reference).
Upload size 25 MB before you claim the site, 100 MB after. Zip under 100 MB, without node_modules (skill contract).
Email at your domain EUR 5 a month including VAT for the first inbox, EUR 3 a month for each extra. Hosting plans list "Free email" with conditions (web hosting).

When GoDaddy is the better pick

A Lovable app made from 13 May 2026 (TanStack Start) or a Replit app with a server needs a host that runs server code. TanStack Start isn't in GoDaddy's published framework list, so check with GoDaddy before you move one there.

Choose DropTheHassle if

DropTheHassle is the wrong host when the app needs a server, server functions or a database. We publish the folder. We don't run Node, Python or PHP for you.

Questions

Does GoDaddy Node.js Hosting have a free plan?

You can create up to two private preview apps for free, with no Web Hosting plan or card. To publish an app to the public, GoDaddy requires a Web Hosting plan; Economy includes 1 published app.

What does GoDaddy Node.js Hosting cost?

On GoDaddy's US site on 1 October 2026: Economy $5.99, Deluxe $7.99 and Ultimate $12.99 a month for the first 3-year term, with 1, 10 and 25 published apps. Their offer page says Economy is $215.64 up front and auto-renews after 3 years at $551.63. GoDaddy says there are no per-request, per-GB or per-build-minute charges.

Can DropTheHassle run my Node.js or Next.js server?

No. We host built files only. A Next.js app without server features can be exported as plain files (output: 'export'), and that folder works here. Anything that needs next start, an API route or a database needs a server host such as GoDaddy Node.js Hosting, Netlify, Vercel or Cloudflare.

Can my AI spend money?

On DropTheHassle, no. Your AI can publish. It can never spend your money: buying a domain is always your own click. GoDaddy's CLI, which its Node.js page says agents can run with your credentials, includes a domain purchase command that charges your account when it's confirmed.

What does a .com cost next year?

On DropTheHassle, EUR 19 a year including VAT in the EU, or USD 19 elsewhere, the same every year. On GoDaddy's US .com page, $0.01 for the first year with a 3-year purchase required, then $22.99 for each additional year.

I built a simple site with Claude or Cursor. Which one?

If it's HTML, CSS and JavaScript (a single-page app is fine), DropTheHassle is free and needs no setup: drop the folder or run npx -y dropthehassle deploy. If it has its own server or database, use a host that runs Node, like GoDaddy Node.js Hosting.
