Short answer: Save the code from ChatGPT or Claude as a file called index.html, put it in a folder, and drop that folder (or the zip the chat gave you) on dropthehassle.com. It's online straight away on a free yourname.dropthehassle.app link with HTTPS, with no account and no card. Step 1. Turn the chat's code into a file
A website is just a file called index.html. Browsers open it automatically as the home page.
From ChatGPT: in the code block, click Copy (or Download if you see it).
From Claude: open the artifact, then copy or download the code. (Claude's own Publish button gives you a claude.ai link, not your own address.)
Then save it:
- Mac: open TextEdit, choose Format, then Make Plain Text, paste, and save as
index.html. - Windows: open Notepad, paste, choose File, then Save as, set "Save as type" to All files, and name it
index.html.
Put that file in a new, empty folder (for example "my-site").
Got several files, or a React component? Ask the chat: "Rewrite this as one self-contained index.html with all CSS and JavaScript inline." One file is the easiest to publish.
Got a zip? You can upload the zip itself. index.html can sit at the top of the zip, inside one wrapper folder, or inside a build folder such as dist, build, out, public, _site, .output/public or docs. If the zip has one other HTML file and no index.html, for example home.html, that file is served as the home page. A project that still needs a build (it has package.json and no built folder) is refused: run npm install and npm run build, then upload the folder the build wrote.
Step 2. Upload it
- Go to dropthehassle.com and click Upload (free). You do not sign in first.
- Click Drop your folder. The next screen says Drop your folder or .zip. Drop your folder, or the zip. The other control, or browse, picks a folder on your computer. It does not pick a zip.
- Done: your site is online at an address like
yourname.dropthehassle.app, with HTTPS (the padlock in the browser). No account, no card.
Send the link to a friend, or open it on your phone.
Step 3. Keep it: claim it within 7 days
Click Claim this site, type your email and the 6-digit code we send you. Until you do:
- the claim link works for 7 days; after that the site is removed;
- search engines are asked not to list it ("noindex"), so it won't show up in Google yet;
- visitors see a small bar at the bottom. It says Made with DropTheHassle and has a Claim this site link. They can close it. It also has a Report abuse link;
- the upload can be at most 25 MB. After claiming, uploads can be up to 100 MB.
Step 4 (optional). Your own name, like yourname.com
- Buy it here: search for a name in your dashboard and pay yourself. It's connected to your site automatically, so there are no DNS settings. A .com is EUR 19 a year including VAT in the EU, or USD 19 elsewhere, the same every year.
- Already bought one somewhere else? Leave it there and add one A record: a single line in your domain's settings that says which server your site lives on. You set it once, using the address shown on your screen. HTTPS is set up for you.
Good to know
- Only "static" sites. That means pages that work by just opening the files: HTML, CSS, images, JavaScript. If the chat built something that needs a database, a login or its own server (PHP, Python, Node), that part can't run here.
- AI features inside the page stop working. Buttons that called ChatGPT, Claude or Gemini from inside their app won't work outside it.
- Links between your pages work, and so does refreshing a sub-page: if an address isn't a real file, the site serves your

Other free options exist too (Netlify Drop, GitHub Pages, Cloudflare Pages, tiiny.host). They're fine for one page; putting your own domain on them usually means editing DNS yourself.
