Put your Windsurf website online, then on your own domain

If Windsurf built a static site (a folder with an index.html, or a dist folder after npm run build), you can put it online for free in minutes and add your own domain later. If it needs a database, logins or file uploads, you need a host that runs a backend, such as Vercel, Render or Railway.

What did Windsurf build?

What App Deploys already does

App Deploys is in beta. The docs say it runs through Cascade, and it does not run with the Devin Local agent. You ask Cascade to deploy the project to Netlify, or you use Deploy. Cascade uploads the project to Windsurf's servers and publishes it on Netlify under their account. You get a public address like name.windsurf.build, a claim link, and a windsurf_deployment.yaml file so a later deploy can hit the same project.

Claiming the project moves it to your own Netlify account. The docs say that gives you control, logs, and the ability to change the domain name there. They do not describe Windsurf selling a domain, and they do not describe a mailbox. Unclaimed deploys may be deleted. The rate limits on that page are 1 deployment a day and 1 unclaimed site on Free, and 5 of each on Pro. Supported projects on that page are Next.js, React, Vue, Svelte, and static HTML, CSS, and JavaScript.

You cannot rename a windsurf.build address after it exists. The docs say to delete windsurf_deployment.yaml and deploy a new site. A .netlify.app name, after you claim, is changed in Netlify's settings. For a domain you own, and for mail if you want it, publish the built folder on DropTheHassle.

Put it online in 2 minutes

The project is already on your computer. If it needs a build, run npm run build and use dist. If it is already HTML, use the folder that contains index.html. Put keys in a .env file before you build.

Drop that folder at dropthehassle.com. You get https://yourname.dropthehassle.app on HTTPS. No card. The domain can wait. The upload is a zip of at most 100 MB and it has to contain index.html. A folder that still needs a build is refused. So is a site that needs a server to run (for example PHP, Node or Python).

Single-page apps work. When an address is not a real file, we serve your index.html with a 200, so a Vite or React app opens on any of its own routes, also after a refresh.

Let Windsurf deploy it for you

The Devin Local agent can publish the same folder. A first deploy needs no token. Omit DTH_TOKEN, or use https://dropthehassle.com/mcp with no Authorization header. deploy_site publishes an anonymous site and returns a claim link. Put the token from Connect your AI in .devin/mcp_config.local.json when the site is already on your account, so it is not committed. The shape is on the MCP guide. Then ask it to put ./dist online. It can deploy and update. It cannot buy a domain, turn on email, or edit DNS at another company.

App Deploys is the other path, and it stays a windsurf.build preview. The docs say that path runs in Cascade, not in the Devin Local agent.

Add your own domain

A .com bought here is EUR 19 a year including VAT in the EU, or USD 19 elsewhere, the same every year. No DNS edit. A domain you already own needs one A record: one line at the company where you bought the domain, set to the address shown on your screen. Press Check now. HTTPS follows.

Staying on the claimed Netlify site is a real option. A domain you already own then uses Netlify's DNS instructions, and that host does not include a mailbox.

Publish your site for free

Building it for a client?

Get paid your own way, then give them the domain. The connector cannot give a name away. DropTheHassle does not collect your fee.

When you need a backend instead

If the project needs a server to store data, sign people in, or accept uploads, this host will not run it. Use a host that does, such as Vercel, Render, or Railway, and a database such as Supabase when the app needs one. A folder that still needs Node, PHP, or Python to answer requests is refused here.

If Windsurf already produced a static folder, and the data lives in a service the browser calls, that folder can still go on the free link. The database stays on that service.

Questions

Do I need a domain?

No, not to see it working. The free link is enough to test it and to send to someone. A windsurf.build address is a preview, not a domain you own. Buy a domain when you share it more widely or sell it. A .com bought here is EUR 19 a year including VAT in the EU, or USD 19 elsewhere, the same every year.

What if it breaks?

A static site has few moving parts. Keep the folder or the repo. Fix it in Windsurf and publish the folder again, by dropping it or by asking the agent to update the site.

Can I charge for access?

Not with DropTheHassle alone. You need a course platform or a payment platform. This host serves the files. It does not sign visitors in or take their payment.

Does Windsurf include my own domain?

The preview address is on windsurf.build. A custom domain, in their docs, comes after you claim the deploy on your Netlify account and change it there. That is not a domain Windsurf sells, and it is not email.
